Framingham Access Member Wins Big at National Hometown Media Awards

Framingham, MA (May 24, 2024) – Access Framingham, the public
access television station for Framingham, Massachusetts, is thrilled to
announce that "Jerry's World - New Pilot," produced by AFTV member
Chibuzor Ogbue, has been awarded the prestigious award of “Best of
Mixed and Transmedia - Independent Producer” for the 2024 National
Hometown Media Awards.

Presented by the Alliance for Community Media (ACM), the Hometown
Media Awards is the Foundation's yearly program established to honor and
promote community media, community radio, and local cable programs that
are distributed on Public, Educational, and Governmental (PEG) access
cable television channels. Proceeds from the Awards go directly to the
ACM Foundation, which is exclusively used for facilitating, preserving and
promoting education in community media.

Nearly one thousand entries compete each year. These entries,
encompassing a variety of programs, are submitted and evaluated by a
panel of industry judges on several factors. Over 100 awards are
presented, recognizing the most creative programs that address community
needs, develop diverse community involvement, challenge conventional
commercial television formats, and move viewers to experience television
in a different way.

"Jerry's World - New Pilot" follows the story of Jerry Fleece, a public access
puppet with dreams of Hollywood stardom. Produced by Chibuzor Ogbue,
a talented former Access Framingham intern, the program showcases the
creative energy and storytelling potential within the public access
community.

"We are incredibly proud of Chibuzor and his achievement," said Jason
Daniels, Executive Director of Access Framingham. "This award is a
testament to the power of public access to empower aspiring filmmakers
and nurture creative voices."

The Hometown Media Awards Celebration, the award presentation for
the winners, will be held this summer at the ACM Annual Conference. This
year, the celebration takes place on June 26, 2024 in San Jose, California.
