Meet the New Executive Director, Bill McColgan!
Bill is a media professional with more than twenty years in the industry, including management and hands-on experience in broadcast news, major league, college and high school sports coverage, and community access programming.
For six years, Bill worked as Executive Producer and Director of Programming Development for CN8, a Comcast-owned regional cable television network which served the Eastern Seaboard. In that capacity, Bill developed sports programming and event coverage, and negotiated and implemented rights contracts and marketing agreements with professional teams, universities, athletic conferences, and event promoters in multiple television markets on the East Coast.
During the launch phase of the network in New England, Bill was responsible for selection of staff, oversight of all studio and remote production, and creation of key strategic partnerships with universities and teams in the area. With a small team of sports television professionals, he created and Executive Produced an Emmy Award-winning nightly series covering New England professional and collegiate sports. Bill also developed strong ties with the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association, negotiating exclusive television rights deals for Division I football, basketball and hockey championships, and creating specials on sportsmanship and other programming focused on educational athletics, in addition to live state-wide coverage of fall and winter sports championships.
Prior to joining the Comcast Programming Group, Bill worked as Director of News and Public Affairs programming for AT&T Broadband’s New England channels, overseeing nightly news and political issues programming throughout a four-state region. Bill started his career as an access producer in his hometown, producing a weekly news program focused on the local community. He spent more than ten years managing public access programming in several Greater Boston communities, managing training and outreach, and overseeing local programming ranging from community news, to high school and youth sports coverage, to public affairs series, to municipal meeting coverage.
A graduate of Stanford University, with a BA in Communication and International Relations, Bill also has an MBA from Boston College. Bill is tremendously excited to be joining FPAC’s mission, and is looking forward to getting to know the people who make FPAC such a great resource for Framingham.
