Grand Opening June 6!
Come one, come all to the Grand Opening Celebration of Framingham’s new public access media center. Access Framingham TV (AF-TV) proudly announces the opening of its new studio and headquarters. The Grand Opening festivities will be held on Saturday, June 6, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with a dedication of the new studio and the official ceremonies beginning at 11:00 a.m.
“We’re all about the ‘public’ and we’re all about media access and community engagement, which is why we are so proud to invite you all into our new location with this special event,” said Bill Rabkin, President of Access Framingham TV. “We’ve been looking for a new home to best meet the public’s local media needs and finally, after six years, we’re there.”
Access Framingham TV’s new location includes two new TV studios, upgraded lighting and overall improved production facilities at 4 Vernon Street, ideally situated adjacent to Framingham’s historic Framingham Center Common. “We’re in good company with the Framingham History Center and our soon-to-be neighbor, Danforth Art,” Rabkin said.
Guest speakers at the Grand Opening include State Representative Chris Walsh, Town Manager Robert Halpin, and Selectman and founding AF-TV board member Cheryl Tully Stoll.
AF-TV is proud to announce that the main studio will be dedicated in memory of the late Ruth and Jay Gordon as part of the opening ceremony, with special words from their son Jim Gordon who is also the owner and landlord of the building. The Gordons have been an integral part of the MetroWest business community since 1891.
Visitors will be invited to go on camera to record a shout out to the community that will be telecast on AF-TV. All attendees who would like to join AF-TV will do so at a discounted membership rate of $20.06 commemorating 2006, the founding year of AF-TV. The AF-TV mobile production truck will also be open for tours.
Access Framingham TV looks forward to a robust turnout of community members to participate in this unique celebration. Parking, which can be accessed from Vernon Street, will be behind the building.
